My painting was inspired by photos taken in 1960 by Phyllis Nicklin, I just loved the old cars along with the architecture of the buildings been some changes to this street since Phyllis came down this street, the business is now closed including parts of the business premises have been demolished.
Title of my painting “Sight & Sound” comes from Birmingham band which were playing in the area when Phyllis took her photos, I wonder if she heard Tony Collinge one of the band members played in Digbeth at the Adam & Eve
Sight and Sound - Little Jacky Monday record in 1968 hey watch and listen to the sounds of the band on YouTube.
