Tucked away on Temple Street, this grade II listed locally it has been known as The Trocadero since 1912. When you come across this splendid historic building it’s hard to believe many years ago, it was a fire station but in 1883 t became a drinking house called The Bodega wine bar, this upmarket wine bar was run by a real character called Henry Skinner. His presence is still felt (it is known as most active resident ghost). Drop by for a pint or two and if you have time I’m sure the staff will be able to tell you a few tales about Henry. Henry, is one of several spooks said to wander the building, which became a drinking house in 1883. Unfortunately, Henry Skinner was murdered here by a former member of staff, during an argument his brother shot him in 1895
Two girls who fell to their deaths on a spiral staircase also make an occasional appearance, a formal member of staff has told me stories while working here about the ghost stories not wishing to here late at night.
The stories of ghosts playing tricks on the staff moving things around our sweethearts will have to watch their glasses…
But today our sweethearts are only interested in the sprits on the shelf and wonder in for an evening of entertainment to be joined later with their mates.
